Nepim Lighting

NEPIM Collection, a collaborative project with Artisan Hyung-keun Lee.

The name NEPIM is derived from the traditional Korean Yugi technique called “NEPIM-jil,” which involves stretching and expanding bronze during the Yugi-making process. This name symbolizes the concept of expanding boundaries and moving forward.

Organic materials, such as those used in the production of lamps and candlesticks, have been a vital component of interior design for many years. Musical instruments like “kkweng-gari,” “jing,” and “jong,” made of organic materials, were used to create unique sounds for ceremonial events.

The NEPIM Collection reinterprets the traditional techniques and forms of objects made with organic materials, creating contemporary lighting fixtures, furniture, and lifestyle products. These products embody the essence of ancestral artifacts, imbued with modern functionality and design.

For instance, NEPIM Lighting combines the organic shapes of old instruments “kkweng-gari” and “jong” to create a vertical form that adds a touch of elegance to any space.
